“It had been six years since Sound One closed when I felt a deep need to reunite its community — to let the people who lived it tell their own story of The Sound One Era. I knew it was important to document this history in their voices. I first brought the idea to a Post New York Alliance meeting, and they agreed.

On that journey, I learned that Ira and Marlena had already begun a documentary on Sound One, and they filmed the recording sessions we held. Every year since, I asked him about the status of his film. This year, he invited me to join him in helping bring his story to life.”
